Aztecs beat TCU, stand alone in first

SAN DIEGO -- Jamaal Franklin had 24 points and 11 rebounds to lead No. 17 San Diego State to an 83-73 win over Texas Christian on Saturday night, giving the Aztecs their seventh straight 20-win season.

James Rahon scored 16, Chase Tapley 14 and DeShawn Stephens 13 for the Aztecs (20-3, 6-1 Mountain West). San Diego State has seven 20-win seasons overall in 13 seasons under coach Steve Fisher, including last year's school-record 34-3 performance.

With No. 11 UNLV losing at Wyoming, the Aztecs regained sole possession of the conference lead.

Kyan Anderson had 22 points and J.R. Cadot 15 for TCU (13-9, 3-4), which lost its seventh straight to San Diego State.

After shooting 31.3 percent from the field in a 17-point loss at Colorado State and a two-point home win against Boise State, the Aztecs made 50.8 percent of their shots. Several dunks helped the Aztecs with the better percentage, including one when Franklin came flying in for a rebound and an impressive reverse slam that made the score 39-31 in the first half.

The Aztecs outrebounded TCU, 35-21.

■ New Mexico 65, Boise State 49 -- At Boise, Idaho, Kendall Williams scored 18 points and Tony Snell 13 to lead the Lobos over the Broncos.

Hugh Greenwood had 10 points and 10 rebounds for the Lobos (19-4, 5-2 Mountain West), who have won four consecutive games.

Kenny Buckner scored 11 points for Boise State (10-12, 0-7), which has lost a school-record eight straight.

■ Colorado State 67, Air Force 49 -- At Fort Collins, Colo., Pierce Hornung scored a career-high 23 points and matched a career best with 17 rebounds in leading the Rams past the Falcons.

Hornung had nine offensive rebounds for Colorado State (15-7, 4-3). Michael Lyons led Air Force (11-10, 1-6) with 16 points.
