Bases-loaded walk decides 51s’ win at Albuquerque

Jarrett Hoffpauir drew a tiebreaking walk with the bases loaded in the 10th inning, and the 51s rallied to gain a 9-8 victory over the Albuquerque Isotopes on Sunday in the Pacific Coast League at Albuquerque, N.M.

Las Vegas (19-25) had taken an 8-7 lead with a three-run ninth, but the Isotopes forced extra innings on Timo Perez's pinch-hit RBI single in the bottom half.

In the 10th, the 51s loaded the bases against Brent Leach (3-1) after two were out on Chris Aguila's single, a walk to Jesus Merchan and J.P. Arencibia's single. Hoffpauir then walked on a 3-2 count.

Hoffpauir also hit a solo homer in the fourth inning and had three RBIs. Aguila had a two-run homer in the seventh.

For Albuquerque, ex-51 John Lindsey was 4-for-5 and Russ Mitchell homered.

The 51s begin a four-game series at Round Rock (Texas) at 5:05 p.m. today.
