Bees edge 51s with homer in 11th inning
Terry Evans led off the bottom of the 11th inning with a home run Thursday night, lifting the Salt Lake Bees to a 3-2 victory over the 51s in a Pacific Coast League game in Salt Lake City.
The Bees (13-1) were outhit 10-4 and mustered one hit and drew no walks between the sixth and 10th innings off Las Vegas relievers Dwayne Pollok, Brian Falkenborg and Mike Koplove.
The 51s (6-8) took a 1-0 lead on George Lombard's second-inning homer. Salt Lake went ahead on Kendry Morales' two-run double in the third before Las Vegas tied the score at 2 on Luis Maza's two-out RBI single in the seventh.
Maza finished 3-for-5 with a double for the 51s, who had runners at first and second with no outs in the fifth and the bases loaded with one out in the sixth but didn't score.
Evans homered on the fifth pitch from Greg Miller (0-2).
