Berglund boosts Grizzlies to win over Chaparral

Brant Berglund threw two touchdown passes and ran for another score to help Spring Valley's football team hold off visiting Chaparral 28-26 on Thursday.
The Grizzlies trailed 19-14 at the half, but Berglund's 10-yard pass to Christian Tasi in the third quarter put Spring Valley ahead for good.
Andre Bartley added a 13-yard TD run in the fourth to boost the lead to 28-19 before the Cowboys (1-1) closed to within two on Jason Jonshon's 1-yard run.
Berglund, who passed for 96 yards and ran for 81 on 15 carries, had a 1-yard TD run in the second quarter and a 5-yard TD pass to Drazen Tojic in the first.
Chaparral's Antonio Thomas rushed for 165 yards, including first-half touchdowns of 30, 42 and 26. Jonshon ran for 76 yards on 18 carries and completed 5 of 8 passes for 86 yards.
■ Wells 21, Indian Springs 12 - At Wells, the Leopards used scoring runs of 40 and 82 yards and a 20-yard fumble return for a TD to beat the Thunderbirds (0-2).
Indian Springs quarterback Troy Heath had scoring runs of 2 and 4 yards in the second quarter to help the Thunderbirds pull within 14-12. He completed 9 of 17 passes for 126 yards.
