Horse Racing: Today at Del Mar, Nov 27

Post Time 12:30 p.m.

Race 1 – 6 ½ furlongs, Purse $53,000, Optional claiming $40,000, Cal-breds, 2-year-olds
1 Family Code – Has good early speed and has shown the ability to finish strongly too; like the rail post where sharp gate rider Tyler Baze can get control early.
5 Turn Your Eyes – Won by an astounding 14-lengths in his MSW win; ran a big speed figure, but it was over a small field of five badly overmatched rivals.
Long Shot – 6 Record Highs

Race 2 – 5 furlongs (turf, rail at 6 feet), Purse $36,000, Claiming $40,000, 3-year-olds and up
5 Second Proposal – May have found a new condition racing in turf sprints; jockey Corey Nakatani likes to let them settle and then circle with one big finish.
9 Giant Ego – Tepid chalk in an extremely wide open affair; is still winless on grass in seven starts, but has run some good speed figures and cashed a few paychecks.
Long Shot – 10 Back to Bako

Race 3 – 6 furlongs, Purse $17,000, Maiden claiming $20,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
4 Secret Chords – Ran horribly in last, a return off a 1- year hiatus; taking the biggest class drop in racing from MSW to maiden claiming, joins the Eddie Truman barn.
1 Flowinwiththebreez – Tepid chalk in another difficult heat; your edge over me will be in seeing the tote board action, suspect a dark horse will come up hot.
Long Shot – 9 Bolt Up

Race 4 – 1 1/16th miles (turf, rail at 6 feet), Purse $53,000, Optional claiming $40,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
11 Dreamologist – Gets class relief from the grade 3 Autumn Miss for this first level condition; she has high early speed so expect jockey Brice Blanc to send hard early.
9 Tiz a Kiss – Tepid chalk has not a drop of early speed, so expect Rafael Bejarano to take back to last and settle early; he'll hope for a fast pace to chase late.
Long Shot – 4 Holograeme

Race 5 – 5 ½ furlongs, Purse $18,000, Claiming $16,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
4 Amberella – Beaten favorite actually ran a very good race last time; it was quick early and she kept going as best she could, will enjoy tonight's class relief too.
3 Scatchmeifyoucan – Speedball did a pop and stop in last; she figures to show the same kind of high octane, but suspect jockey Corey Nakatani can nurse her further.
Long Shot – 7 Flexible Ethics

Race 6 – 1 1/16th miles (turf, rail at 6 feet), Purse $53,000, Optional claiming $40,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
7 Miss Boom Boom – Dead late closer switches to talented bugboy David Lopez; the maestro Jerry Hollendorfer has used the kid on many winners up in NoCal.
4 Illuminant – Was super impressive in her MSW win last time down the hill at Santa Anita; she stretches out in distance tonight, but has the pedigree to handle it.
Long Shot – 11 Salsita

Race 7 – 6 ½ furlongs, Purse $52,000, Maiden special weights, Fillies, 2-year-olds
5 She's a Warrior – Tepid chalk fought gamely for second in her career debut; she surprised most as she clearly outran her generous 25/1 odds in debut.
3 Old Hollywood – FTS from the maestro Jerry Hollendorfer; you'll have a huge edge over me as you'll be able to see the tote action on the five FTS in this field.
Long Shot – 4 Candy Boss

Race 8 – 1 1/16th miles (turf, rail at 6 feet), $250,000 Seabiscuit Handicap, 3-year-olds and up
3 Bal a Bali – This is another really difficult heat on today's card; HOF trainer Richard Mandella got a confidence builder into him last out, now chasing bigger fish.
4 Seek Again – Talented Eastern invader has had a frustrating season; has only 3 thirds to show in facing the best competition in the country, smart shipping out west.
Long Shot – 7 Midnight Storm

Race 9 – 6 furlongs, Purse $21,000, Maiden claiming $30,000, Fillies, 2-year-olds
7 Two Steps of Glory – The finale of a testing card to bet into; faced winners in last, taking the biggest class drop in racing now to face maiden claiming rivals.
6 Juju's Mojo – Was favored in her career debut so the barn, clockers, or both knew something; showed some improvement in second career start which makes her dangerous.
Long Shot – 11 Ten Dollar Note

Best Bet - 5 Second Proposal (race 2)
Del Mar Thursday - Picks/Winners/Mutuels, 16/5/$27.20; Long Shots, 8/2/$20.20; Best Bet, 1/1/$3.40
