Horse Racing: Today at Hollywood Park, Nov. 22

TODAY AT HOLLYWOOD PARK

By Richard Eng

Post Time 11 p.m.

Race 1 - 7 furlongs, $100,000 Hollywood Prevue, 2-year-olds

5 Super Ninety Nine - Among a quartet of Bob Baffert starters in this 5-horse stakes field; pick your poison.

2 Shakin It Up - Lost to the favorite but showed a lot of moxie; figures to sit in arrears and make one brush.

Long Shot - 3 Z Big Apple

Race 2 - 6 1/2 furlongs, Purse $25,000, Maiden claiming $40,000, Cal-breds, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up

8 Missdang Sally - Ran first time for a price tag last out; ran fast enough to beat these with a repeat effort.

3 Party in Excess - Showed modest improvement last time; in a race full of slowpokes, has a shot with more improvement.

Long Shot - 5 Madelineispickin

Race 3 - 1 1/16th miles, Purse $45,000, Maiden special weights, Fillies, 2-year-olds

4 Fiftyshadesofhay - More Bob Baffert love after dominating race 1; this filly is better than she showed in last.

3 Miss Derek - Gets class relief from a good try in the Barretts Debutante; tactical speed to sit a decent trip.

Long Shot - 5 Exchange Student

Race 4 - 6 furlongs (turf, rail at 15 feet), Purse $42,000, Claiming $50,000, Fillies, 3-year-olds

1 Tasty Treat - My best friend's parents used to own a Tasty Treat franchise way back when; speed and the rail, come get me.

4 Blushing Martha - Hasn't run for a price tag since being claimed at Del Mar; should like the class relief.

Long Shot - 5 Catienus Gold

Race 5 - 6 1/2 furlongs, Purse $18,000, Claiming $10,000, 3-year-olds

4 Mr. Why Why - Claimed 3 races ago by Mike Pender; did show major improvement in last, enough to climb past these.

3 Idontrollonshabbos - Tepid chalk in a wide open affair; not a race to single in the pick 6, in my humble opinion.

Long Shot - 1 Beau Royale

Race 6 - 1 1/16th miles (turf, rail at 15 feet), Purse $56,000, Allowance, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up

3 Byrony - Won two straight allowances in Inglewood when she first came to the U.S.; class relief from a bunch of tough stakes.

5 Hard to Resist - Another who exited the Goldikova last out; she is a sturdy foe who can upset on her best effort.

Long Shot - 2 Imperialistic Diva

Race 7 - 6 furlongs, Purse $48,000, Optional claiming $25,000, Cal-breds, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up

4 Church Avenue - Returns to the track, Betfair Hollywood Park, that she has dominated on; speed to lead or follow close up.

3 Roar Baby Roar - Rafael Bejarano would be dangerous riding a donkey in SoCal; this filly is no donkey, puncher's chance.

Long Shot - 8 You Can Dream

Race 8 - 1 1/16th miles (turf, rail at 15 feet), Purse $42,000, Claiming $50,000, 3-year-olds

7 You Know I Know - May be the toughest race in the pick 6 sequence; still, I would be shocked to see another carryover.

8 A Toast to You - He likes to win race, but not by much; he is a gamer, so if Tyler Baze has him close, he has a killer instinct.

Long Shot - 6 McAllister Boys

Race 9 - 6 furlongs, Purse $22,000, Maiden claiming $30,000, 2-year-olds

5 Sacred Ovation - Speedball fell apart in last like a cheap suit; huge class drop and the early speed to clear the field.

11 Warrior James - Taking the biggest class drop in racing from MSW to maiden claiming; need not be much to upset these.

Long Shot - 10 Mentalize

Best Bet - 8 Missdang Sally (race 2)

Hollywood Park Sunday - Picks/Winners/Mutuels, 16/3/$14.20; Long Shots, 7/2/$20.80; Best Bet, 1/0/$0

Hollywood Park Totals - 129/32/$223.20; Long Shots, 65/9/$117.00; Best Bets, 8/3/$14.60

SIMULCAST PLAY OF THE DAY - #1 This Ones for Phil (5/1) in race 8 at Aqueduct. For scoring purposes, we'll make a hypothetical $2 win, place and show bet, $6 total. On Sunday, Shakeira won at Aqueduct paying $3.80 to win, $2.50 to place and $2.30 to show. Stats - 171/118/$1,032.10; Follow him on Twitter: @richeng4propick.
