Horse Racing: Today at Santa Anita, April 17

Post Time 1 p.m.

Race 1 - 1 mile (turf, rail at 24 feet), Purse $56,000, Maiden special weights, 3-year-olds and up

6 Wicked Finance - As sizzling hot as Tyler Baze is now, you leave him out at your own risk; dead late closer will come flying late.

2 Mr. Cartagena - Ran very well in debut; fear here is one speed figure to go one, question is which way will he go next, up or down.

Long Shot - 5 Native Ride

Race 2 - 1 mile, Purse $56,000, Maiden special weights, 3-year-olds

4 D’Church - Has been well bet since the barn switch to Simon Callaghan; just missed in last in a solid forward move.

1 Cozmic One - Baby colt is out of Zenyatta and figures to get way overbet; he has had a lot of works so he should not be short.

Long Shot - 5 Attack

Race 3 - 1 mile, Purse $26,000, Claiming $20,000, 4-year-olds and up

4 The Mad Hungarian - Tyler Baze is so hot he could win riding a zebra right now; pair him up here with leading trainer Peter Miller.

1 Senor Rain - Underrated Sal Gonzalez should get a cozy rail trip and save all the ground; like the #1 post at a mile, turf or dirt.

Long Shot - 2 Valentine Boy

Race 4 - 1 mile, Purse $58,000, Optional claiming $80,000, Fillies, 3-year-olds

6 Majestic Presence - Has nibbled in her last two, now the maestro Jerry Hollendorfer sends her long; should like the softer early pace.

2 Miss Mandate - Has chased Majestic Presence a couple times; she knows what her foes backside looks like, can she turn the tables.

Long Shot - 1 Roksana

Race 5 - 1 mile (turf, rail at 24 feet), Purse $32,000, Claiming $25,000, 4-year-olds and up

4 Friendswith K Mill - Tiny edge in the hardest race on the card; well placed here to affect the Pick 6, Pick 5 and Pick 4 wagers.

1 Jomelo - Expect a rail skimming ride under Felipe Valdez; Richard Baltas has not been afraid to use him on many live mounts.

Long Shot -5 Sinfully

Race 6 - 6 furlongs, Purse $31,000, Maiden claiming $50,000, Cal-breds, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up

11 Minster’sadventure - Leap of faith that the duo of Rafael Bejarano and Jerry Hollendorfer mean business; could do a lot worse than this.

1 Bert’s Baby - Has turned in two improved races in a row for Daniel Dunham; small barn doesn’t win many, but has a nice shot here.

Long Shot - 2 Sidepocket Bet

Race 7 - 6 1/2 furlongs (turf, rail at 24 feet), Purse $60,000, Optional claiming $62,500, 4-year-olds and up

8 Forest Chatter - Talk about a horse for course; he has won all three starts down the hillside turf course, all under Mike Smith.

10 Rosengold - Chance to be lone early speed tonight, the best bet in horse racing; simple tactics, go as fast and as far as he can.

Long Shot - 9 Indexical

Race 8 - 6 1/2 furlongs, Purse $23,000, Maiden claiming $30,000, Fillies, 3-year-olds

4 Not Tonight - Taking the biggest class drop in racing from MSW to maiden claiming; Tyler Baze had choices, opted for Eoin Harty filly.

10 Sparkling Peg - Ran a much improved race in second start; if she improves even one step she’ll be the one to beat tonight.

Long Shot - 12 Coded Message

Best Bet - 6 Majestic Presence (race 4)
