Bishop Gorman’s Grimble commits to USC

Bishop Gorman High School football player Jalen Grimble gave an oral commitment to Southern California on Saturday before attending the Trojans' spring game.

Grimble, who will be a senior defensive end in the fall, said he picked USC over scholarship offers from Louisiana State, UCLA, Nebraska and Alabama.

"It feels great. The business school, the financial school and the coaches are hard to come by," Grimble said of USC.

Grimble's commitment brings an end to the recruitment of one of the highest-profile players in the class of 2011. He'll be able to sign his National Letter of Intent on Feb. 2.

Grimble will eventually become teammates with his cousin, Gorman senior tight end Xavier Grimble, who signed with USC last February.

The 6-foot-4-inch, 255-pound Jalen Grimble had 59 tackles, eight sacks and two fumble recoveries as a junior, helping Gorman roll to a 15-0 record and its second Class 4A state title in three years.
