Boise State hands Wyoming first loss
LARAMIE, Wyo. - Jeff Elorriaga had 18 points and sank a 3-pointer at the buzzer as short-handed Boise State defeated Wyoming 63-61 on Wednesday, knocking the Cowboys from the unbeaten ranks in both teams' Mountain West opener.
Josh Adams made two free throws with 9.1 seconds left to give Wyoming (13-1, 0-1) a 61-60 lead before Elorriaga hit the game-winner from the left corner. He was 6-for-10 from 3-point range.
Anthony Drmic also scored 18 for the Broncos (13-2, 1-0), who won their seventh in a row despite missing four players who sat out after violating team rules.
Derrious Gilmore had 17 points for the Cowboys, who entered as one of four unbeaten Division I teams.
■ No. 16 San Diego State 65, Fresno State 62 - At Fresno, Calif., Jamaal Franklin scored 20 points and had 18 rebounds, and Winston Shepard had a key block in the final minute as the Aztecs (13-2, 1-0) held off the Bulldogs (6-8, 0-1).
■ Air Force 78, UNR 65 - At Air Force Academy, Colo., Mike Fitzgerald scored a career-high 30 points, and the Falcons (9-4, 1-0) made 10 3-pointers.
Deonte Burton led the Wolf Pack (9-6, 0-1) with 21 points.
