Boulder City, White Pine claim titles

Boulder City won eight of 14 individual championships Saturday to capture the team title at the Class 3A Southern League wrestling tournament in Overton.

The Eagles finished with 193 points. Moapa Valley (160½) was second and Virgin Valley (102) third.

Clinton Garvin (103 pounds), Brandon Gonzalez (112), James Smith (119), Tyler Washburn (140), Frankie Badgely (171), Brandon Foster (189), Bleu Huxford (215) and Kyle Erickson (285) won titles for Boulder City.

Moapa Valley's Shae Bryant (135), Trevor Durham (152) and Parker Chappell (160) won titles for the Pirates.

Jimmy Cannon (125), Taylor Fails (130) and McKay Magoon (145) won titles for Virgin Valley.

■ CLASS 2A -- White Pine had three individual champions and three second-place finishers to win the Class 2A Southern League tournament title with 157 points.

Laughlin also had three winners and placed second with 135 points. West Wendover (125), Indian Springs (108) and Round Mountain (74) rounded out the top five.

Jimmy Minniear (135), Jake Hodges (140) and Cody McGeshick (171) won titles for Laughlin.

Indian Springs also had three winners -- Troy Heath (125), Dakota Sargent (145) and Adam Reinke (215).
