More bad luck in Texas for the Magdalenos

Diego Magdaleno will not be fighting Saturday night as scheduled in Arlington, Texas, after his opponent, Luis Solis, missed the 135-pound limit at Friday’s weigh-in. Solis (15-6-4, 12 knockouts), was a whopping 10 pounds overweight. And with no chance to make 135 pounds, the scheduled 10-round fight was scrubbed.

“This is tough to swallow,” said Magdaleno (27-1, 11 KOs). “Everything went so well. Camp was awesome. (Trainer) Joel Diaz was eager to have me show my work.”

Top Rank, which promotes Magdaleno, did not know when he would get back in the ring. Magdaleno’s younger brother Jessie had a fight fall out on him last week in Laredo, Texas, when his opponent failed his physical and was not licensed to compete.
