Burress didn’t come clean in prison
Recently released prisoner Plaxico Burress was far from a model citizen while serving a two-year sentence for a gun possession charge.
Though one would think the celebrity inmate would try to set an example behind bars, a prison report in October obtained by TMZ paints a different picture.
"Inmate Burress's room was filthy. I found opened bags of food on the floor, under the bed and under dirty clothes, books and paperwork, mail scattered throughout the room," the report from Oneida (N.Y.) State Prison reads.
Prison guards treat the situation the same way Mom would: "Burress was told to clean his room," the report said.
If Burress failed to comply in a timely manner, a guard would give him until the count of three to do so.
That usually worked, but sometimes Burress would be ordered to sit in his corner and face the wall until he decided to sweep everything under the bed and make it look like he had cleaned.
■ MY TURN -- Kim Kardashian hasn't dated every athlete in the world. It only seems that way.
The celebrity socialite and reality star recently announced her engagement to Kris Humphries of the New Jersey Nets after ending a long relationship with New Orleans Saints running back Reggie Bush.
Kardashian also has been linked to Dallas Cowboys receiver Miles Austin and others.
Now comes an In Touch report that Kardashian was seeing New England Patriots safety Bret Lockett for five months behind Humphries' back.
Lockett has confirmed the story, and now at least one teammate wants in on the action.
Tight end Rob Gronkowski took to his Twitter account to call dibs on Kardashian.
"Yo (Bret Lockett), I hope the rumors are true! I call next!"
Gronkowski is getting ahead of himself. He's not slated for his relationship with Kardashian until April 2027.
■ AW, SHUCKS! -- By successfully clearing one more height, Evan Barr would have become the California state pole vaulting champion.
Even if he were to knock the bar down on his attempt, all he had to do was drop quietly in the pads below to finish third and wrap up a state team title for Loyola High School.
He couldn't do either.
Barr apparently let out a curse word as he failed to clear the bar and was disqualified, dropping out of third and failing to pick up the team points that would have given Loyola a state championship.
The state rules interpreter told the Los Angeles Times athletes "can't be profane in a competitive area," describing the incident as "an unfortunate lapse in judgment."
The officials refused to believe Barr's explanation that he simply was cheering on his team's shot-putter.
■ WHEELING AND DEALING -- The Milwaukee Brewers selected Trent Boras in the 30th round of the Major League Baseball draft Wednesday.
Boras is the son of Scott Boras, one of baseball's most famous and shrewd agents and known as one of the most hated people in the game because of his many long, drawn-out contract negotiations.
It's not known how much Boras has rubbed off on his son, but Trent Boras already has asked for "Alex Rodriguez money" and weekends off.
