Calhoun, UConn stun No. 6 Syracuse

HARTFORD, Conn. — Freshman Omar Calhoun scored 15 points, including three 3-pointers in the deciding second-half run, and Connecticut beat No. 6 Syracuse 66-58 on Wednesday night in the last scheduled game between the national powers.

Syracuse (20-4, 8-3 Big East) will play next season in the Atlantic Coast Conference, while Connecticut will stay in the realigned Big East, although the Huskies (17-6, 7-4) could be enticed to head to another conference if asked.

There is no chance they would meet again this postseason as Connecticut is serving a ban from the Big East and NCAA tournaments.

■ No. 2 Duke 73, North Carolina 68 — At Chapel Hill, N.C., Mason Plumlee had 18 points and 11 rebounds, and the No. 2 Blue Devils held off the archrival Tar Heels.

Quinn Cook scored 18 points and Rasheed Sulaimon 13 for the Blue Devils (22-2, 9-2 Atlantic Coast Conference). P.J. Hairston scored 20 points for North Carolina (16-8, 6-5).

■ Charlotte 71, No. 11 Butler 67 — At Indianapolis, Pierria Henry scored 17 points to lead the 49ers to an upset of No. 11 Butler on the Bulldogs’ home floor.

Rotnei Clarke scored 18 and Roosevelt Jones had 17 points and nine rebounds to lead Butler (20-5, 7-3 Atlantic 10), which hadn’t lost at home in 12 games.
