Cowboys hold on, improve to 4-0

LARAMIE, Wyo. -- Brandon Ewing scored 27 points and Tyson Johnson added 22 to help Wyoming hold onto a 97-96 win over Texas State on Wednesday night.

Adam Waddell and Afam Muojeke finished with 16 points apiece for the Cowboys (4-0).

Wyoming seemed to have control of the game in the final seconds -- leading 97-93 with 4.5 seconds remaining. But Texas State's Brent Benson hit a 3-pointer and was fouled. He had a chance to tie the game, but his free throw came up empty.

Benson, who was 9-for-13 from 3-point range, finished with a game-high 32 points for Texas State (2-2). Brandon Bush added 22 points, and Cameron Johnson scored 11.

• Stanford 76, Air Force 57 -- At Stanford, Calif., Anthony Goods scored 20 points to help the Cardinal (3-0) beat the Falcons (3-2) and remain undefeated in the Johnny Dawkins era.

Lawrence Hill added 18 points as Stanford beat Air Force for just the second time in their past five meetings. Josh Owens added 14 points.

Anwar Johnson scored a career-high 20 points for the Falcons in their first road game of the season.

Stanford made 14 of its first 21 shots and turned eight Air Force turnovers into 16 points en route to a 51-29 halftime advantage.

• Texas Christian 62, Southern Methodist 44 -- At Fort Worth, Texas, Edvinas Ruzgas had 13 points and seven rebounds to lead the Horned Frogs (3-3) past the Mustangs (2-3).

TCU led 35-25 at halftime and turned up the defense to hold SMU to 19 points in the second half.

The Mustangs didn't help themselves with 21 turnovers that led to 27 points for the Horned Frogs.

Derek Williams led SMU in scoring with 16 points.

• Colorado State 78, New Orleans 60 -- At Fort Collins, Colo., Andy Ogide scored a career-high 22 points and grabbed 12 rebounds as the Rams (3-2) downed the Privateers (0-4).

Marcus Walker hit three consecutive 3-pointers to open the game and scored 11 of Colorado State's first 13 points on his way to 19.

Andre McFarland added 15 points for the Rams.

Justin Archie led New Orleans with 14 points.
