CSN baseball, softball win openers

Kayden Porter hit a two-run double in the third inning to lead the College of Southern Nevada baseball team to a 3-1 win over Arizona Western in its season opener Friday at Morse Stadium.

The College of Southern Nevada softball team swept its season-opening doubleheader at the Russell Road Complex. Hope Curtis went 4-for-4 with three RBIs, and Sarah Rivera and Breea Buckley combined on a two-hit shutout in a 13-0 win over El Paso Community College. Rhiana Balaun hit a three-run home run, and Alashanee Medina pitched a complete-game two-hitter to beat Yavapai College, 8-0.
