CSN beats Faulkner (Ala.) State, 18-1

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. -- Trent Cook and Tomo Delp each hit two-run home runs for the College of Southern Nevada in the top of the sixth inning as the Coyotes defeated Faulkner (Ala.) State by rule at the Junior College World Series, as they led 18-1 after six innings.

Scott Dysinger singled home a run, Gabe Weidenaar doubled in two, and Marvin Campbell hit a run-scoring triple in the frame.

Bryan Harper and Tyler Iodence combined to allow just one hit.

Weidenaar, Campbell and Delp each drove in three runs for the Coyotes in the game. Dysinger had four hits.

Bryce Harper went just 1-for-2, but walked twice, scored three times and drove in a run.

CSN will remain in the winner's bracket and play Iowa Western Community College at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Weidenaar, Harper, Cook, and Trevor Kirk hit consecutive singles in the top of the first inning to help CSN jump out to a quick 3-0 lead.

CSN took a 5-1 lead in the second inning when Weidenaar singled in a run and Harper followed with an RBI sacrifice fly to right.

Andrew Pritchard hit a solo home run for Faulkner State in the second inning.

Campbell belted a two-run homer to center field off Chance Peterson as CSN extended its lead to 7-1 after three innings. The Coyotes then loaded the bases with one out, but Weidenaar hit into a double play with Harper waiting on deck.

Delp and Daniel Higa hit RBI singles in the fourth inning to push CSN's lead to 9-1.

Kirk singled in Harper, who had walked for the second time in the game, to make it 10-1 after five innings. The Coyotes had 15 hits at that point.
