Dopirak powers 51s past Beavers
Brian Dopirak belted two home runs, including a sixth-inning grand slam, to ignite the 51s to an 8-4 Pacific Coast League win over the Portland Beavers on Wednesday in Portland, Ore.
With the 51s (50-55) trailing 4-1, Dopirak connected off Cesar Corrillo to put Las Vegas ahead of Portland (46-59) to stay.
But Dopirak wasn't done.
After Travis Snider and Kevin Howard walked in the top of the eighth, the 25-year-old first baseman drove a Scott Patterson pitch over the left-field wall for a three-run blast.
The two home runs were the first for Dopirak since being called up from the Double-A New Hampshire Fisher Cats on July 16. Dopirak was leading the league in homers (19) and RBIs (68) at the time.
Dopirak's seven RBIs were the most by a 51s player this season.
T.J. Beam (6-2, 4.26 ERA) got the win.
