March 17, 2008 - 9:00 pm
Spring break is often a time to get away from home and travel to a new city. And for a couple of the nation's top high school baseball teams, their destination is Las Vegas.
Catalina Foothills (Ariz.), ranked fifth nationally by Baseball America, and No. 19 Chatsworth (Calif.) highlight the field at the Blazer Spring Bash, hosted by Durango.
The 26-team field features 10 local teams. Along with Durango, games will be played at Centennial, Sierra Vista, Las Vegas and Spring Valley. Play begins at 8 a.m. today at Durango, Sierra Vista and Centennial. The first games at Las Vegas and Spring Valley are scheduled for 9 a.m.
The Fred Davison Memorial softball tournament also begins today at West Flamingo Park.
The tournament features seven local teams, with games beginning at 9 a.m.
