Essengue, Cameroon reach Olympics

Former UNLV player Gaston Essengue helped Cameroon earn a spot in the 2008 Olympics in Beijing.

Essengue had 14 points in a 58-52 semifinal win over Egypt on Thursday in the FIBA Africa Championship, clinching one of two available Olympic bids.

In Saturday's final, Angola beat Cameroon 86-72 to win the tournament. Essengue had 14 points and five rebounds.
