Ex-Rebel Scott ends two-year Tour drought

SAN ANTONIO -- Adam Scott made the Texas Open his first PGA Tour victory in two years, shooting a combined 11-under 133 in a 36-hole finale Sunday to edge Fredrik Jacobson by a stroke.

Scott, the 2008 Byron Nelson Classic winner and a former UNLV player, overcame two early bogeys with an eagle on the par-4 17th in his third-round 66, then built his lead with six birdies en route to a closing 67 on the new Oaks Course at TPC San Antonio.

The 29-year-old Australian survived a closing bogey -- his only one in the final round -- when Jacobson missed a 16-footer from the fringe on No. 18 that would have forced a playoff. Scott finished at 14-under 274 and earned $1,098,000 for his seventh tour victory.

Scott rallied from four strokes back -- and bogeys on two of his first three holes -- before settling down in the long final day. More than 3 inches of rain washed out Friday's round, setting up Sunday's 36-hole marathon.

Ernie Els, Aaron Baddeley and Jimmy Walker tied for third at 276.

n LPGA -- At Mobile, Ala., Hall of Famer Se Ri Pak ended a three-year victory drought with a birdie on the third playoff hole to beat Brittany Lincicome in the rain-shortened -- and delayed -- Bell Micro LPGA Classic.

Pak used a nice bunker shot to set up the putt that sealed her 25th career win and first since she won the Owens Corning Classic in 2007. Pak hit within 10 feet below the hole on a fairway bunker shot from about 170 yards to give herself a birdie chance, while Lincicome saved par with a long downhill putt.

Suzann Pettersen also made the playoff but bogeyed the second hole on the par-4, 402-yard 18th hole.

Pak, Lincicome and Pettersen were tied when they teed off together in the morning. An hour into their round, the threat of lightning sent the golfers scurrying into the clubhouse for a 5½-hour wait. The delay forced the scrapping of the final round, and scores reverted to the end of Saturday's third round.

n CHAMPIONS -- At Hoover, Ala., Dan Forsman made an eagle and four straight birdies on the way to winning the Regions Charity Classic by three strokes.

Forsman shot 66, following a tournament-record 62 Saturday.

n ROMO-BYRON NELSON -- Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo earned a spot in today's open qualifying for the Byron Nelson Championship, this week's PGA Tour event only a few miles down the road from the Cowboys' practice facility.

However, Romo's assigned tee time is at the same time he will be taking part in the Cowboys' first organized team activities. Romo said football comes first, so he won't be at qualifying.

The top four in the 18-hole event will get in the Nelson, which begins Thursday. Romo shot an even-par 72 at a pre-qualifier last week.
