FISHING REPORT
■ LAKE MEAD -- Fishing is starting to pick up with a few catfish in the creel. Successful anglers have been using cut anchovies while trolling the Vegas Wash area. Though fewer trout anglers are coming out, trout are being caught at Crawdad Cove. Boulder Beach has been fair for both trout and stripers. The last scheduled trout plant this season at the Lake Mead locations is scheduled for Friday.
■ LAKE MOHAVE -- Trout fishing at Willow Beach has been good immediately after trout plants. Successful anglers are using salmon eggs, PowerBait and Super Dupers. Anglers fishing out of Cottonwood Cove have found the action to be fair. High water levels are inundating brush along the shore, resulting in good conditions for both largemouth and smallmouth bass. Action for stripers and catfish has been sluggish.
■ URBAN PONDS -- The final trout plant took place Tuesday at Sunset Park and Boulder City Veterans Memorial Park. Anglers report fair action at Boulder City Pond with only a few hits using a fly or lure. However, fishing should pick up after the recent plant. Floyd Lamb Park has been slow. Anglers have been catching trout using a crappie jig fished just below the surface.
■ KIRCH WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT AREA -- The ice is almost gone at Adams McGill, Cold Springs and Haymeadow reservoirs. The launch areas and dams are open for fishing and launching watercraft. Trout were recently planted, yet anglers have been pulling out 14- to 16-inch carry-overs. Anglers are advised to take the south road when visiting. It was recently bladed.
■ EAGLE VALLEY RESERVOIR -- No report, though unsafe ice conditions are expected to continue as temperatures warm.
■ ECHO CANYON RESERVOIR -- No report, but fishing should be good as the weather warms and the reservoir continues to fill.
