FISHING REPORT

LAKE MEAD -- Holidays and cold weather are keeping anglers away. Only eight stripers were reported in the creel census Saturday. All were caught near the Boulder Beach area either trolling or fishing from shore. Trout have been dispersing after plants with a few large stripers behind them. Shad have been seen around Boulder and Hemenway harbors.

LAKE MOHAVE -- Weather has slowed fishing. Boaters are marking stripers at depths of more than 65 feet but are not able to get the fish to bite. No report on catfish. Willow Beach continues to be productive for trout near the fishing pier.

URBAN PONDS -- Trout were planted Tuesday at all area ponds. PowerBait, worms, small lures and small flies are being used with success. A fishing license is required at all ponds, with a three-fish limit.

KIRCH WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT AREA -- All reservoirs have unsafe ice.

EAGLE VALLEY RESERVOIR -- Ice has been reported up to 8 inches thick around the reservoir. Anglers have been catching large trout with PowerBait and worms through the ice. The Nevada Department of Wildlife urges using caution while ice fishing.

ECHO CANYON RESERVOIR -- Ice is too thin for ice fishing.
