FISHING REPORT

LAKE MEAD -- Anglers are using cut bait to catch stripers in the Vegas Bay arm. Shad have dispersed in the lower basin, making them more difficult to find.

A few trout anglers found success at Hemenway following Friday's trout plants. Fishermen are catching trout and stripers from the fishing dock at Boulder Harbor as well as from the shoreline on the other side of the launch ramp.

LAKE MOHAVE -- Trout fishing improved after the Willow Beach National Fish Hatchery resumed stocking Friday. Anglers have been catching trout in the 11- to 13-inch range. Shore anglers have been doing well around the marina and south toward Jumbo Wash. Baits of choice include Power Bait, salmon eggs and small hardware. Striper fishing in the area is slow.

Near Cottonwood Cove, fishing has been fair for shore and boat anglers. Stripers in the 2- to 8-pound range are taking cut bait such as anchovies and squid. Trolling with prepared bait has been good north and south of the marina. Largemouth bass action has been slow with minimal success on plastic worms.

LAS VEGAS URBAN PONDS -- Action has been slow. Bait options include small worms fished alone or with marshmallows, PowerBait and various spinners. Keep bait offerings small so trout can get their mouths over the bait.

KIRCH WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT AREA -- Fishing is good for the few anglers venturing onto the ice. Reservoirs on the area are covered with 6 inches of ice, but conditions change almost daily. Anglers should be cautious and are encouraged to call the management area (775-238-0240) for ice conditions.

EAGLE VALLEY RESERVOIR -- Ice fishing has been slow. Anglers who are concerned about walking onto the ice can drill holes next to the dock and fish from there.

ECHO CANYON RESERVOIR -- The ice is not safe.
