FISHING REPORT

• LAKE MEAD -- Despite Friday's trout plants, fishing was slow at Hemenway Fishing Point, Boulder Harbor and Crawdad Cove. Two stripers weighing close to 20 pounds each reportedly were caught on trolled hardware earlier in the week. One angler said he caught small stripers in Boulder Harbor after switching from hardware to cut bait. There is talk that striper fishing is better in the morning after the plants. Fishing seems to be a little better in the Overton Arm, where a Wyoming snowbird caught 25 stripers Monday while trolling with hardware and casting sardines. Fishing is slow in the Temple Bar area.

• LAKE MOHAVE -- Fishing continues to be slow at Willow Beach. The hatchery resumes trout stocking activities Jan. 16. Near Cottonwood Cove, boat anglers have found fair to good action for striped bass despite the cold weather. Troll or still-fish with anchovies, squid and sardines. Most stripers are in the 2- to 4-pound range. Anglers reportedly are reeling 5- to 15-pound striped bass near Katherine Landing.

• LAS VEGAS URBAN PONDS -- New Year's weekend saw an increase in fishing activity, though fishing pressure is light at Lorenzi Park. Anglers are catching stocked rainbows at Floyd Lamb, Sunset and Veterans Memorial parks.

• KIRCH WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT AREA -- About 6 to 8 inches of snow are on the area, and the reservoirs are about 90 percent frozen. The ice is unpredictable, though some anglers have been ice fishing. Use caution and watch for thin ice.

• EAGLE VALLEY RESERVOIR -- Anglers are pulling rainbow trout through about 10 inches of ice. A local angler hauled in an 18-inch rainbow. PowerBait and worms are catching the fish.

• ECHO CANYON RESERVOIR -- The reservoir is low, covered with ice and receiving some fishing pressure. Use caution.

• TROUT STOCKING -- Lake Mohave is on the schedule for today and usually receives trout every other Thursday. Lake Mead will be stocked Friday. The two lakes will receive an extra plant Tuesday, along with the urban ponds.
