FISHING REPORT

LAKE MEAD -- Stripers have been biting on anchovies in the Las Vegas Wash area. The best times have been early morning and late afternoon. Anglers have found larger fish closer to Government Wash and Crawdad Cove.

Though fishing success has been light near Echo Bay, stripers still are being caught near Stewarts Point. The area also tends to be good for largemouth and smallies.

Boulder Beach and Crawdad Cove have been slow for trout fishing. The Nevada Department of Wildlife will stock trout Friday morning.

LAKE MOHAVE -- Trout anglers had sporadic success at Willow Beach last weekend using Power Bait. Striper action picked up down river with fish between 5 and 27 pounds. Most fish were caught before sunrise using SPRO lures and AC plugs.

Striper action has been fair at Cottonwood Cove, with fish in the 2- to 5-pound range taking anchovies, sardines and smelt. The preferred method has been trolling in the early to mid-mornings. Largemouth anglers had success with a variety of top-water and shallow-diving lures.

The next trout plant is scheduled for March 19.

URBAN PONDS -- Fishing success has been sporadic at local ponds. The NDOW stocked rainbow trout Friday at the ponds in Las Vegas and Boulder City. The next plant is scheduled for Tuesday.

KIRCH WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT AREA -- Ice finally is off all reservoirs, but only a few anglers have been braving the wind.

Due to runoff and murky water, the fish are sluggish. They will become more active when water conditions stabilize.

EAGLE VALLEY RESERVOIR -- Though 90 percent of the reservoir still is covered with ice, conditions are unsafe. Anglers have been fishing off the dock for carry-over trout.

ECHO CANYON RESERVOIR -- The reservoir is free of ice and almost full. Anglers have been catching carry-over rainbows off the dam.
