FISHING REPORT

LAKE MEAD -- Only a handful of anglers took part in Friday's trout plants at Boulder and Hemenway harbors.

Anglers have been catching stripers, but not in large numbers, on cut bait and soft plastic trout imitations cast from shore. Others have found success trolling the big lures along the beaches after dark. Snowbirds fishing out of Echo Bay have had success with sardines and anchovies or by trolling deep with outriggers.

LAKE MOHAVE -- Few trout anglers braved the cold weather last weekend. Those fishing south of the Willow Beach fishing pier and marina were successful. Striper and trout fishing throughout the canyon has been slow. The Nevada Department of Wildlife planted trout at Placer Cove and below Hoover Dam on Tuesday.

Fishing at Cottonwood Cove has been fair to good during morning hours. Stripers between 2 and 5 pounds have been taking cut anchovies. One angler landed a 28.5-pound striper while trolling with an AC plug.

American Bass held a tournament Saturday. The 20 teams brought in more than 50 largemouth bass.

URBAN PONDS -- Fishing continues to be good at the ponds despite the weather. PowerBait, worms, lures and flies have been catching fish.

The NDOW stocked ponds in Las Vegas and Boulder City on Tuesday.

KIRCH WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT AREA -- Some open areas on Dacey and Adams-McGill reservoirs have provided good fishing opportunities.

Recent storms have created poor road conditions. High-clearance, four-wheel drive vehicles are recommended.

Dacey Reservoir will be closed to fishing from Sunday through Aug. 15, as will Tule Reservoir.

EAGLE VALLEY RESERVOIR -- Last week, the ice was deteriorating and slushy, but cold temperatures associated with recent storm activity have firmed things back up. Use extreme caution.

ECHO CANYON RESERVOIR -- Ice conditions remain unsafe.
