FISHING REPORT
November 27, 2008 - 10:00 pm
* LAKE MEAD -- The striper bite was good after the season's first trout plant Friday. One angler reported catching seven stripers on a shad imitation but had only "one good hookup" on a swimbait in a rainbow trout pattern. Shore anglers fishing between Hemenway and Boulder Harbor continue to do well with live shad. The most productive time is from first light to about 9 a.m. Because of the holiday, NDOW stocked rainbow trout at Lake Mead on Wednesday.
* LAKE MOHAVE -- Action is sluggish, but some anglers are catching stocked rainbow trout while using PowerBait and PowerWorms near Jumbo Wash and the kayak launch in the Willow Beach area. Boaters have been catching small stripers while using anchovies for bait. Anglers near Cottonwood Cove have been catching stripers while still-fishing or trolling. Shore anglers are finding success near the marina. NDOW stocked Aztec Wash, Placer Cove and the area below Hoover Dam on Tuesday.
* LAS VEGAS URBAN PONDS -- Trout were stocked Monday. The bite is a little different for each pond, but anglers have been finding success with a variety of baits, including PowerBait, salmon eggs, worms, spinners, dry flies and nymph patterns.
* EAGLE VALLEY RESERVOIR -- Murky water conditions have slowed fishing action, but anglers are catching stocked rainbow and tiger trout. Productive baits include worms combined with a white PowerEgg or mini-marshmallow and some lures. Spinners have not been working lately.
* ECHO CANYON RESERVOIR -- The reservoir is low and will remain so through the winter months. Anglers still can catch rainbow trout in the deeper water.
* KIRCH WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT AREA -- Changing weather patterns should improve waterfowl hunting conditions. Hunters and anglers should be prepared for winter weather conditions and expect to find skim ice in the morning. Rainbow trout fishing is fair.
