FISHING REPORT
November 13, 2008 - 10:00 pm
• LAKE MEAD -- Anglers are seeing shad along the beaches and in the Las Vegas Wash area. Live shad and cut anchovies are catching striped bass and catfish. Hardware is productive when the fish are in boils and when jigged in deeper water. The Nevada Department of Wildlife is scheduled to begin trout plants this month at Hemenway, Boulder Harbor (the old Lake Mead Marina site) and Crawdad Cove off Northshore Road. Saddle Cove is closed because of construction.
• LAKE MOHAVE -- Several stripers in the 12- to 17-pound class were caught over the weekend near mile markers 49 and 51. Weather conditions limited angler traffic as well as fishing success with only a few trout caught. Striped bass and catfish have been taking baits north and south of Cottonwood Cove, though the action has slowed. Anglers have found success north of the marina where the lake begins to narrow. Coves along the basins are yielding fish. The Nevada Department of Wildlife plans on stocking rainbow trout this week.
• LAS VEGAS URBAN PONDS -- Anglers at the urban ponds are catching stocked rainbows with mini-marshmallows, PowerBait, small spinners and flies. Action is best in the early mornings and late afternoons. Stocked rainbow and tiger trout are providing good action for anglers throwing a variety of natural and prepared baits.
• EAGLE VALLEY RESERVOIR -- Stocked rainbow and tiger trout are providing good action for anglers throwing a variety of natural and prepared baits.
• ECHO CANYON RESERVOIR -- Anglers should find planter rainbows in the deep water near the dam.
• KIRCH WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT AREA -- Anglers might find skim ice in the morning, but it has been melting. Rainbow trout should take a variety of baits from anglers fishing off the dams. Be prepared for a variety of weather possibilities.
