FISHING REPORT

* LAKE MEAD -- Fishing picked up in the Boulder Beach area last weekend with shad being found along the beaches. Still-fishing with bait and throwing lures are catching fish. Sassy Shad, Kastmasters and surface lures are catching fish, though nothing large. Jigging techniques and top-water lures have been productive in the Vegas Bay arm. Stripers also are being caught in the Echo Bay area.

* LAKE MOHAVE -- Trout and striper fishing have been slow for shore anglers at Willow Beach. Boaters have found action for both fish species south of the marina. Bomber Long A's and AC plug-style lures are fooling stripers to 10 pounds or more, and PowerBait is taking trout. Near Cottonwood Cove, anglers are catching stripers by drifting or trolling anchovies. Shore anglers are catching fish by still-fishing off points near the marina.

* LAS VEGAS URBAN PONDS -- Warm temperatures should aid fishing for catfish and bluegill. Bluegill will take mealworms, small flies and rolled-up bread fished below a bobber. Catfish generally like night crawlers, stink bait or chicken liver. The Nevada Department of Wildlife is set to make the first trout plant of the year next week.

* EAGLE VALLEY RESERVOIR -- Recent trout plants should mean that good fishing should continue. Try PowerBait, small spinners or worms.

* ECHO CANYON RESERVOIR -- Fishing for rainbow trout has been good.

* KIRCH WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT AREA -- NDOW stocked more than 22,000 fingerling trout into reservoirs last week. They should be in good shape come spring. Fishing for fall rainbows has been good at Haymeadow and Cold Springs.
