FISHING REPORT

■ LAKE MEAD -- Anglers are finding shad throughout the Boulder Basin, and that is translating into fair to good fishing for striped bass from Burro Point to Boulder Beach to the Vegas Wash area.

Fishing also is good in the Overton Arm near Echo Bay.

The action can be inconsistent at times, but persistence is paying off. Stripers and catfish are both taking cut anchovies or sardines.

The larger stripers are in deep water below the shad and catfish are in coves and bays.

■ LAKE MOHAVE -- Shad imitations are catching stripers, though the action can be sluggish.

Fish pushing past the 5-pound mark are taking baits south of Cottonwood Cove. Anglers fishing for largemouth bass are finding some top-water action in the morning hours.

For catfish and panfish work the shallow water in the coves.

South of Willow Beach, large trout imitations continue to fool striped bass weighing in at 10 pounds or more.

Stocked rainbow trout are hitting on a variety of PowerBait and lures.

■ LAUGHLIN -- The striper bite continues to improve from Davis Dam south to Avi Resort.

Trout imitations and cut anchovies have been catching fish.

Some anglers have had success for smallmouth bass along the rocky points and riprap shorelines.

■ URBAN PONDS -- Anglers have found fair action for largemouth bass and bluegill at Floyd Lamb Park.

Catfish action has been slow to fair but should pick up following the next fish plant by the Nevada Department of Wildlife on Wednesday.

However, due to planned construction activity at Lorenzi Park, stocking activity at that location will be temporarily suspended.

■ KIRCH WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT AREA -- Late summer means weedy conditions at all reservoirs on the management area.

The bass bite is still good with the best fishing taking place in the early morning and evening hours.

Anglers fishing from the dams with night crawlers are catching some trout.

■ EAGLE VALLEY RESERVOIR -- Anglers are finding the best fishing in the early morning and evening hours.

Some are taking fish with spinners and lures while others are catching fish with traditional baits such as night crawlers, PowerBait or mini-marshmallows.

■ ECHO CANYON RESERVOIR -- Largemouth bass and crappie are providing fair action for anglers.
