FISHING REPORT

LAKE MEAD -- Anglers have had success top-water fishing in the area near Sand Island and Government Wash. Fish are weighing in at 1 pound to 2 pounds. Cut bait has been working well for catfish.

Some anglers are pulling in stripers along Boulder Beach. Shad have moved into the area. In the Overton Arm, fishermen have caught striped bass near Stewart's Point and largemouth bass south of Echo Bay to Middle Point.

LAKE MOHAVE -- Action at Willow Beach has slowed for trout and striped bass, though early risers are catching limits of rainbow trout. PowerBait, flies and spinners have had the most success.

The most productive hours are before 7 a.m. One boater reportedly reeled in 4- and 13-pound stripers below Willow Beach with a large plug that resembles a rainbow trout.

LAUGHLIN -- Take advantage of early morning and evening hours, when boat traffic is relatively light.

Largemouth bass and sunfish can be found in backwaters and pockets along the river. For striped bass, try drift fishing with anchovies.

LAS VEGAS URBAN PONDS -- Catfish were planted in the five ponds last week. With temperatures moderating, fishing action should pick up.

Catfish, bluegill and largemouth bass can be caught at Floyd Lamb and Sunset parks. For bluegill, fish a mealworm below a bobber; for bass, try crankbaits or plastics; and for catfish, go to the bottom with night crawlers.

EAGLE VALLEY RESERVOIR -- Anglers are catching rainbow trout, but warm temperatures make the fish lethargic. That means anglers have to fish during cooler parts of the day when the fish are more active. Fish areas of deeper water where the fish try to escape the heat. Worms or prepared baits have been working.

ECHO CANYON RESERVOIR -- Anglers catching fish during the dog days of summer have been working structure in the lake.

Look for largemouth bass and rainbow trout along rocks and weed beds. Prepared baits, worms and mini-marshmallows are good for trout. Plastic baits and hardware can be effective for bass.

KIRCH WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT AREA -- Fishing continues to be steady for largemouth bass and rainbow trout.

Trout have been feeding on the surface. Fly fishermen and anglers casting fly-and-bubble setups should entice fish into biting. Bass anglers are finding good action.
