FISHING REPORT

LAKE MEAD -- Anglers have been taking a few small stripers along the tires at Hemenway as well as in the Vegas Bay arm. Some of the fish have been caught during an early morning top-water bite followed by jigging baits as the temperatures increase.

Windy conditions have made fishing along Boulder Beach tough in the past week.

LAKE MOHAVE -- Fishing has remained slow for shore and boat anglers in the Cottonwood Cove area. Most success is coming after dark for fishermen using prepared baits fished on the bottom in water from 15 to 40 feet deep. One angler caught several stripers and catfish using anchovies and sardines.

A fun alternative are bluegill, which can be found in abundance in coves near Cottonwood.

Anglers have found steady action from stocked rainbow trout at Willow Beach, and reports have indicated fish weighing as much as 2 to 5 pounds are there. PowerBait, Little Jakes and other spinners have been taking trout.

Fishing for stripers and largemouth bass has been slow.

LAS VEGAS URBAN PONDS -- Fishing has been good for bluegill and largemouth bass. A supplemental catfish plant has been scheduled to make up for the loss of fish that died following the previous plant. Stresses attributed to transportation have been named as a probable cause, but the Nevada Department of Wildlife will be monitoring the situation.

EAGLE VALLEY RESERVOIR -- Low water levels and warm temperatures have resulted in slow fishing at this Lincoln County reservoir. Catch rates are slow, but those who are catching fish are using PowerBait. Anglers should fish early in the morning or late in the afternoon when fish take advantage of cooler temperatures.

ECHO CANYON RESERVOIR -- Anglers have found slow fishing and lots of weeds. The water is low, and fish are holding in heavy cover to escape the heat.

KIRCH WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT AREA -- Plenty of water is open on Haymeadow Reservoir. Bass fishing continues to be good, and some anglers are pulling in trout while casting to open water. Large trout could be seen feeding in the past week.

The previously closed sections of Adams-McGill, Cold Springs and Haymeadow, along with Dacey Reservoir, are open.
