FISHING REPORT

■ LAKE MEAD -- Striper action has been sluggish and sporadic, though anglers are hooking fish. One lucky fisherman reeled in a 13-pound striper while throwing swimbaits off the beaches near Hemenway. Anglers are still finding live shad in the Vegas Wash area and using them to catch striped bass. Trout anglers are finding good action for stocked rainbows after the Nevada Department of Wildlife trout plants at Crawdad Cove.

■ LAKE MOHAVE -- Rainbow trout fishing is good immediately after the weekly fish plants at Willow Beach, but frustrated anglers say the trout aren't staying in the area long. Striper action is slow to fair; however, there are reports of anglers catching 10- to 20-pound fish. Fishing action around Cottonwood Cove is poor to fair for stripers and catfish. Anglers participating in the Ultimate Bass tournament last weekend found good action for bucket mouths.

■ URBAN PONDS -- Action has been good for stocked rainbows immediately after the trout plants but tends to slow considerably in the days that follow. Ponds at Floyd Lamb Park, Sunset Park and Veterans Memorial Park in Boulder City received trout Tuesday. The next scheduled plant is next Tuesday.

■ KIRCH WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT AREA -- Ice fishing is not recommended. Anglers might find open water along the dams at Haymeadow and Adams-McGill reservoirs. Dacey is open, but fishing is slow.

■ EAGLE VALLEY RESERVOIR -- Action for rainbow and tiger trout is slow to moderate on this Lincoln County reservoir. The ice is about 8 inches thick, but water is on top of the ice during warm afternoons. Anglers are finding success with PowerBait in a variety of colors. Worms are also catching fish.

■ ECHO CANYON RESERVOIR -- Ice fishing is not recommended. Some water is open at the reservoir's upper end.
