Fishing Report
n LAKE MEAD -- Largemouth and smallmouth bass fishing has been good, with excellent results during the FLW Tournament. Though most hardware will work, a majority of anglers were catching fish from 2 to 4 pounds on plastics fished on a drop-shot setup. Striper fishing has been improving as it gets warmer. Anglers are catching fish with cut anchovies in the Vegas Wash by boat or shore fishing.
■ LAKE MOHAVE -- Fishing remains fair to good. Stripers and catfish have been taking anchovies and sardines. Trolling and still-fishing are producing fish. Those who are looking for small and largemouth bass are finding the fish in coves on both sides of Cottonwood Cove. Trout fishing has been slow to fair at Willow Beach.
■ LAS VEGAS URBAN PONDS -- Bluegill are in a prespawning mode, with anglers catching them 40 to 50 feet off shore. Once spawning begins, they can be seen close to the shore. Anglers are catching panfish and the occasional trout on mealworms. Catfish should be good this weekend because of the Nevada Department of Wildlife fish plant this week.
■ KIRCH WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT AREA -- Anglers have been catching trout at Haymeadow and Cold springs, with slower success at Adams McGill and Dacey. The weather should be good this weekend while using PowerBait, lures and flies. Though a few bass have been caught, cooler weather has kept action slow.
■ EAGLE VALLEY RESERVOIR -- Fishing has been good in the mornings and afternoons for rainbows and tiger trout. Anglers are catching fish that average 13 inches long while using PowerBait fished off the dock. Fly-fishers are finding success in the afternoon on brown and purple woolly buggers fished near the shore line.
■ ECHO CANYON RESERVOIR -- Anglers are catching trout. No reports on crappie or bass.
