Fishing report

■ LAKE MEAD -- Catfish anglers are getting occasional hits in both the upper and lower basins with cut anchovies or commercial baits. Some reports have striped bass boiling in shallow water early in the morning, producing decent-sized stripers. Anglers are catching a few largemouth and smallmouth bass in areas with newly flooded brush as temperatures warm each day.

■ LAKE MOHAVE -- Anglers are finding good action for stripers in the 5- to 20-pound range. Large trout imitations, such as the AC Plug and SPRO swimbaits, continue to catch bass south of Willow Beach. Trout in the 12-inch range are being caught around the harbor. The Willow Beach National Fish Hatchery plants rainbow trout every Friday. Anglers are catching stocked rainbows on common trout baits, such as PowerBait, night crawlers and a variety of lures or spinners. Striper fishing remains sluggish in the Cottonwood Cove area.

■ LAUGHLIN -- Action for striped and smallmouth bass has slowed along the Colorado River below Davis Dam. Rainbow trout action is also slow.

■ URBAN PONDS -- The Nevada Department of Wildlife will plant trout in each of the local ponds -- Sunset, Floyd Lamb and Boulder City -- on Tuesday. Fishing improved significantly following recent plants, though angler pressure has been high. Anglers have also had success for bluegill and even a few largemouth bass at Floyd Lamb Park.

■ EAGLE VALLEY RESERVOIR -- Ice is present and reported to be only around 7 inches thick. NDOW reminds anglers to check conditions before venturing onto ice and select an alternative approach if conditions are not optimal.

■ ECHO CANYON RESERVOIR -- No reports of ice, but there might be thin layers around the shore. Fish are taking a bobber or just about any bass lure. Rainbow trout are still taking PowerBait and night crawlers, but the action is slow.
