Fishing Report, Feb. 2

■ LAKE MEAD -- Striper action at Hemenway has slowed. The fish that are hitting are taking anchovies. Some fish are being found from about 30 to 120 feet deep. The best bite for stripers remains at night. Striper action has remained fair to good at Temple Bar. Reports of 3-pound stripers are common. Trolling has been productive in the early morning and evening. Action for smallmouth and largemouth bass remains slow, with some success through slow presentation. Shad have left the area for the season.

■ LAKE MOHAVE -- Willow Beach striper action has remained good. Success is coming on AC plug lures. There have been reports of stripers up to 10 pounds, with the average striper weighing about 5 pounds. Cottonwood Cove striper action is slow. Stocked rainbow trout have provided good fishing for Willow Beach and Cottonwood Cove. Largemouth bass fishing remains slow to fair, with most fish hitting soft plastic baits fished on grass beds and rocky structure.

■ LAUGHLIN -- Anglers are having success with planted rainbow trout. The best action has been at Davis Camp and Rotary Park. Night crawlers are the most effective, but floating baits and small lures also are having success. There are holdover trout up to 5 pounds. Striper action has been slow, with limited success on crank baits and anchovies.

■ URBAN PONDS -- Weekly trout plants by the Nevada Department of Wildlife have resulted in good fishing. Lorenzi Park, however, is not receiving fish because of construction. Flies, worms, PowerBait and lures are productive. The limit is three fish.

■ KIRCH WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT AREA -- Haymeadow, Cold Springs and Adams-McGill reservoirs remain frozen but are starting to thaw. Dacey has open, fishable water with about one-quarter of the reservoir being open water. Ice fishing is not recommended on any of the reservoirs.

■ EAGLE VALLEY RESERVOIR -- Fishing for rainbows has been good. The most success is being seen by using a variety of colored PowerBait, or a combination of night crawlers and marshmallows. The ice remains in fishable condition.

■ ECHO CANYON RESERVOIR -- The reservoir is frozen, but rising water levels are keeping the edges thin. Fishing on the ice is not recommended. Many anglers are seeing success right off the front of the dam near the pipe.
