Five-run fourth sends Memphis to win over 51s
Tyler Greene's two-run homer highlighted Memphis' five-run fourth inning Friday night in the Redbirds' 11-6 Pacific Coast League victory over the 51s in Memphis, Tenn.
Nick Stavinoha hit a three-run shot in the eighth and finished 2-for-3 with four RBIs for the Redbirds (66-60), who took three of the four games in the series from Las Vegas (63-64).
Wildness plagued 51s starter Kyle Drabek (3-3), who was charged with six runs on five hits in 3 1/3 innings. The right-hander issued six walks, hit a batter and threw a wild pitch.
After Greene's home run gave Memphis a 4-2 lead, the Redbirds scored three more runs in the fourth on a bases-loaded walk, a wild pitch and a throwing error.
Memphis starter Adam Ottavino (6-8) settled down after the 51s' two-run first inning to finish seven innings. He gave up four runs on seven hits and two walks, and struck out four.
Greene and Tony Cruz had three hits apiece for the Redbirds, who held a 13-10 edge in hits.
Adeiny Hechavarria, in his eighth game with Las Vegas, went 3-for-5 to up his average to .529. The 22-year-old Cuban shortstop hit his first Triple-A home run, a three-run shot in the eighth.
Darin Mastroianni and Ryan Budde had two hits each for the 51s.
