Foothill boys claim Desert Heat crown

Earl Jones scored 11 of his 18 points in the fourth quarter to help Foothill hold off Reno 85-78 in the Desert Heat Classic boys basketball tournament in Palm Springs, Calif., on Saturday.

Ben Green scored 21 points for the Falcons.

Canyon Springs 75, Hawthorne (Calif.) 62 -- At Orange, Calif., Raveon Samuel had 15 points to lead the Pioneers to the win in the seventh-place game at the Orange Classic.

Cimarron-Memorial 77, Deer Creek (Okla.) 63 -- At Honolulu, Tyler Tuliau had 20 points and 14 rebounds to lead the Spartans to the win in the third-place game at the Walter Wong Holiday Classic.

Tech 84, Layton Christian (Utah) 79 -- At Mountain View, Brandon Tiffany had 35 points to lead the Roadrunners to a double-overtime win in the consolation game at the Vegas Invitational.

Agassi Prep 53, River Valley (Ariz.) 49 -- At Mountain View, Tay Shepard had 13 points to lead the Stars.

Mountain View 73, Lighthouse Christian (Calif.) 67 -- At Mountain View, Justyn Anderson had 21 points to lift the Saints.

Spring Mountain 59, Mount Vernon (Utah) 47 -- At Mountain View, Joe Williams scored 26 to lead the Golden Eagles.

Silverado 66, Moapa Valley 51 -- At Overton, Wade Collie had 27 points to lead the Skyhawks to the Moapa Valley Holiday Classic title.

Bobby Vallett led the Pirates with 19 points.

Del Sol 95, Lincoln County 91 -- At Overton, Joe Maglaras scored 20 points for the Dragons in the third-place game.

The Meadows 60, Tonopah 43 -- At Overton, Jon Chino had 20 points for the Mustangs in the seventh-place game.

GIRLS

Jalisco State (Mexico) 58, Mountain View 27 -- At Mountain View, Jalisco State jumped to a 29-9 lead on the way to the win in the Vegas Invitational championship game.

Sheyla Reyes led Jalisco State with 15 points, and tournament Most Valuable Player Andrea Tostado scored 13.

Randall Van Kempe had nine points for Mountain View.

Agassi Prep 41, Shadow Ridge JV 30 -- At Mountain View, Kee-Maya Snowden had 14 points and Mariah Harrison 13 to lead the Stars.

Lake Mead 52, Rancho JV 25 -- Jenna Willis scored 25 points to lead the Eagles over the Rams.

Fairmont Prep (Calif.) 53, Indian Springs 35 -- At Mountain View, Jordan Esparza had 24 points to lift the Huskies over the Thunderbirds in the consolation game.

Katelynd McClary scored 14 points for Indian Springs.

Moapa Valley 69, Lincoln County 54 -- At Overton, Kasi Delgadillo had 17 points and Blythe Thompson 14 to lead the Pirates to the win in the championship game of the Moapa Valley Holiday Classic.
