Foothill hands Basic first defeat in Southeast play

Aaron Whittaker was 3-for-3 with two doubles and three RBIs on Thursday as Foothill edged visiting Basic 5-4, dealing the Wolves their first Southeast Division loss.

The Falcons built a 5-1 lead after three innings and held on after Basic scored three runs in the sixth.

Marcus Romero was 2-for-3 with a triple for the Wolves.

Palo Verde 4, Shadow Ridge 0 -- At Palo Verde, Austin Del Castillo pitched a two-hitter and struck out five without allowing a walk to lead the Panthers past the Mustangs.

Christian Centrella was 3-for-4 with a triple for Palo Verde.

Green Valley 5, Del Sol 2 -- At Green Valley, Josh Bray pitched three perfect innings of relief to earn the win as the Gators downed the Dragons.

Jordan Miller went 3-for-3 with four RBIs and Chad Whiteaker was 2-for-2 with a double and three runs scored for Green Valley.

Cimarron-Memorial 5, Legacy 0 -- At Cimarron-Memorial, Patrick Thomas and Kody Gorden combined to pitch a two-hitter as the Spartans downed the Longhorns.

Nathan Hale singled in his only at-bat and drove in a run for Cimarron.

Silverado 16, Liberty 9 -- At Liberty, Braden Keathley was 3-for-5 with a home run, a double, three runs scored and two RBIs to lead the Skyhawks.

Adam Koglin went 3-for-5 with four RBIs and two runs scored for Silverado.

David Kinan was 3-for-5 with a double and two runs scored for the Patriots.

Centennial 10, Mojave 0 -- At Centennial, Dominick Monteiro and Matt Triana each went 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI to lead the Bulldogs to a five-inning win.

Centennial pitcher Michael Wagner allowed one hit and struck out six in four innings.

Arbor View 9, Cheyenne 3 -- At Cheyenne, Brooks Robinson was 3-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and an RBI to help the Aggies beat the Desert Shields.

Winning pitcher Zach Hartman had 10 strikeouts, drove in two runs and scored one.

Jacob Hoff was 3-for-4 with a double and scored all three runs for Cheyenne.

Coronado 14, Tech 2 -- At Tech, Ryan McIntyre was 3-for-4 with two home runs and four RBIs as the Cougars beat the Roadrunners in five innings.

Andrew Gans and Nick Hanneke each added two hits and two RBIs for Coronado.

Durango 5, Rancho 3 -- At Durango, Ryan Kuehl went 2-for-3 with three RBIs to help the Trailblazers rally from a 3-0 deficit to beat the Rams.

Aaron Kurcz had two RBIs for Durango, which allowed three runs in the top of the fourth but scored four runs in the bottom of the inning.

Bishop Gorman 5, American Fork (Utah) 1 -- At the College of Southern Nevada, Paul Sewald threw a five-hitter with seven strikeouts to lead the Gaels to the win in the Calvary Chapel Tournament.

Johnny Field and Brandon Garcia each had two hits for Gorman.

Faith Lutheran 8, Colton (Calif.) 1 -- At Faith Lutheran, Terry Unruh went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs to lead the Crusaders to the win in the Calvary Chapel Tournament.

Faith Lutheran's Alex Barnes pitched a six-hitter.

West Wendover 19, Henderson International 12 -- At Henderson International, West Wendover used a 10-run fourth inning to down Henderson International.

Mike Rubenstein was 2-for-3 with a double and four RBIs for Henderson International.
