Free tips offered at handicapping seminar

A free scouting report on the football season is being offered this weekend at the VegasInsider.com sports handicapping seminar at the Red Rock Casino.
The seminar kicks off at 10 a.m. Saturday with speeches from Station Casinos sports book director Art Manteris and Vegas Insider general manager Peter Gold. Open registration begins at 9:15 a.m.
The schedule of panel discussions, subject to change, includes:
• Behind the Counter -- 10:15 a.m. Saturday. Ken White and Tony Sinisi of Las Vegas Sports Consultants discuss who makes the lines, the issue of sharp bettors versus squares and the offshore market as it relates to Las Vegas.
• Handicapping Theories and Techniques -- 11:30 a.m. Handicappers Marc Lawrence, Andy Iskoe, Barry Holthaus, Bruce Marshall and Ted Sevransky debate systems, trends and other strategies.
• Futures, Propositions, Win Totals -- 1:30 p.m. Tips for futures wagers are offered by local handicappers Buzz Daly, Steve Fezzik, Mark Franco and Bryan Leonard.
• College Football Forecast -- 2:30 p.m. Hear about overrated and underrated teams, conference forecasts and opening-week best bets from a panel of seven handicappers.
• The Media's Perspective -- 10:15 a.m. Sunday. Dave Cokin, Dave Tuley and others offer opinions on mainstream gaming and various topics.
• What It Takes to Become a Pro -- 11:45 a.m. Fezzik, Leonard and Sevransky outline the keys to successful wagering.
• The Evolution of Sports Handicapping -- 1:30 p.m. Ed Meyer discusses statistical angles, evaluating NFL trends and the mathematics of handicapping.
• Over or Under -- 2:15 p.m. Topics include high-scoring and low-scoring teams, analyzing injuries, inflated lines, first half/second half betting strategies and Week 1 best bets with James Manos and Erin Rynning on the panel.
• NFL Breakdown -- 3 p.m. Several handicappers analyze teams and make predictions for the pro season.
