Gladiators welcome road game vs. Avengers
Fortunately for the Gladiators, they are playing on the road today.
Oddly, that is where they have had their only success this season -- if success can be used in the same sentence with a team that has two victories in 14 games.
Las Vegas is 2-5 away from the Orleans Arena and has been much more competitive in those games. In Las Vegas, the Gladiators are 0-7 and have lost five times by more than 20 points.
The Gladiators play at Los Angeles today, with the Avengers (8-6) chasing a playoff spot.
Los Angeles won the previous meeting this season 59-37 on May 6 at the Orleans Arena. The Avengers used a turnover late in the first half to break open a close game.
"We had some chances, but I give credit to them, they made the plays they needed to make," Las Vegas coach Danton Barto said. "It's kind of like watching (the Avengers' game at) Arizona. Arizona had the lead, but L.A. kept making plays they needed to make on Monday night. They're fighting for their playoff lives."
Los Angeles defeated Arizona, 55-52.
For one of the few times this season, the Gladiators don't take new injuries into the game.
"This seems like the first time in a while we've had the same team back on the field that's healthy," Barto said.
