Gorman boys hold on for win
Quintin Dailey's dunk with about 20 seconds to play gave Bishop Gorman a one-point lead, and the Gaels boys basketball team held on for a 56-54 home win over Cherry Creek (Colo.).
Gorman led 50-42 entering the fourth quarter, but Cherry Creek started the period with a 12-3 run to take a 54-53 lead. Blake Moore's steal set up Dailey's dunk that put the Gaels up for good.
Dailey finished with 17 points.
• Faith Lutheran 66, Douglas 63 -- At Minden, Mike Amico's three-point play with 1.9 seconds left gave the Crusaders the victory in the championship game of the Carson Valley Classic.
Amico finished with 16 points, and Diontea Wright scored 15 for Faith Lutheran, which led by 13 before a Douglas rally put the Tigers ahead in the final two minutes.
• Legacy 71, Boulder City 41 -- At Boulder City, Walter Chappell scored 21 points to lead the Longhorns over the Eagles.
John Kirvin scored 14 points for Legacy. Joey Western paced the Eagles with 17 points.
• Pine View (Utah) 81, Centennial 67 -- At Centennial, the Panthers hit 11 of 15 from 3-point range to defeat the Bulldogs.
Adam Young paced Centennial with 16 points.
GIRLS
• Faith Lutheran 58, Lincoln County 48 -- At Pahrump, Meghann Smith scored 25 points to lead the Crusaders over the Lynx in the Pahrump Valley Times Tournament.
• Bishop Gorman JV 58, Faith Lutheran 45 -- At Pahrump, Ashlin Gross had 22 points to lead Gorman's junior varsity over the Crusaders.
Smith scored 18 and Seanie Petersen 16 for Faith Lutheran.
• Mountain View 62, Holy Martyr (Calif.) 28 -- At Anaheim, Calif., Randall Van Kempen finished with 22 points, eight rebounds and six steals to spark the Saints at the Fairmont Prep Tournament.
Ellie Markwardt had 14 points and 13 rebounds for Mountain View.
