HEAD OF THE CLASS
• ARBOR VIEW -- Boys swimmer Josiah Stratton took third in the 200-yard individual medley and first in the 100 butterfly in a meet with Sierra Vista and Kennedy (Calif.).
• BONANZA -- Boys swimmer Sam Wieser placed first in the 100-yard breaststroke and second in the 100 butterfly against Cheyenne. Girls sprinter Shirley Pitts set a school record in the 400-meter dash with a time of 58.24 seconds.
• CHAPARRAL -- Boys track athlete Ty Anthony had a triple jump of 43 feet, 4 inches. Girls track athlete Destiny Hotchkins had a school-record discus throw of 105 feet, 4 inches.
• CHEYENNE -- Baseball catcher Jacob Hoff was 2-for-3 with a double, an RBI and two stolen bases against Liberty.
• DURANGO -- Baseball player Danny Reynolds allowed one earned run on five hits in a 5-4 complete-game win over Twin Falls (Idaho).
• GREEN VALLEY -- Boys golfer Damian Coughlin shot two rounds of 74 to take medalist honors at the Pahrump Valley Invitational. Softball player Ali Bodnar batted .517 with five homers, two triples and two doubles over spring break.
• LAUGHLIN -- Baseball player Dennis Walters struck out 11 in an 8-3 win over Round Mountain.
• PALO VERDE -- Baseball player Alex Bonczyk had a triple and five runs and played errorless defense in the Blazer Spring Bash. Softball player Amanda Montalto had two home runs and 11 RBIs in six games at the Centennial Spring Jamboree.
• SHADOW RIDGE -- Softball pitcher Mandy Harmon improved to 5-0 with a 0.66 ERA. Boys track athlete Preston Davis won the 100- and 200-meter dashes, was second in the triple jump and was part of the winning 1,600 relay team in a meet with Rancho, Desert Pines and Moapa Valley.
• SIERRA VISTA -- Softball player Amelia McIntosh hit .383 with a home run and four RBIs at the Fred Davison Memorial Tournament. Boys track athlete Mitchell Paul placed first in the 1,600- and 3,200-meter runs in consecutive meets.
• SILVERADO -- Baseball player Jordan Keegan went 8-for-13 in the Lions Tournament.
• SPRING VALLEY -- Baseball player Cameron Brooks went 9-for-16 with eight stolen bases and seven runs in the Blazer Spring Bash.
• VALLEY -- Girls softball player Mickayla Romero was 4-for-5 with seven RBIs and pitched a one-hitter with seven strikeouts in a win over Chaparral.
