Hoffpauir propels 51s past Isotopes

Leadoff batter Jarrett Hoffpauir had two hits, knocked in three runs and raised his average to .340, carrying the 51s to a 4-2 victory over the Albuquerque Isotopes on Thursday in the Pacific Coast League at Albuquerque, N.M.

Hoffpauir doubled home Kyle Phillips in the third inning and supplied a two-run double in the fifth, scoring Jorge Padilla and Phillips.

Luis Figueroa's RBI single in the seventh made the score 4-0, and that was enough cushion for Las Vegas left-hander Brad Mills (4-3). He exited in the seventh after allowing a leadoff homer to Lucas May and a triple to Michael Restovich, but reliever Sean Henn limited the damage. David Purcey and Jeremy Accardo each pitched a scoreless inning.

51s pitchers were aided by five double plays.

Isotopes starter Tim Corcoran allowed four runs on nine hits in 6 2/3 innings. He struck out six and walked none.

The game began a four-game series that continues at 6:05 p.m. today.
