HORSE RACING
TODAY AT HOLLYWOOD PARK
By Richard Eng
Post Time 1:20 p.m.
Race 1 - 1 mile (turf, rail at 20 feet), Purse $44,000, Claiming $62,500, 3-year-olds
A Shore Thing - Like the addition of two things, blinkers back on and Nakatani; Mullins has been sleepwalking so far this meet.
Fast Corredor - Tepid chalk in a wide open affair; Potts chooses this guy over others, his race two back is fast enough to win.
Long Shot - Justinplace
Race 2 - 4 1/2 furlongs, Purse $46,000, Maiden special weights, Fillies, 2-year-olds
Miss Maisy - Ran off last time while a heavy race favorite and was scratched; she has some talent and received a public workout.
Early Applause - FTS from the always dangerous Koriner barn; cost $100k at Barretts, which tells me she ran and looked great.
Long Shot - Nook and Granny
Race 3 - 7 1/2 furlongs, Purse $20,000, Claiming $16,000, 3-year-olds
Plenty Jade - Should be dead fit exiting a 2-turn turf route race; should be forwardly placed and has a tidy outside post.
Gary John - He looks like he's ready to break thru after three even efforts; tactical speed to sit a nice trip throughout.
Long Shot - Domoron Domoron
Race 4 - 1 1/16th miles, Purse $21,000, Maiden claiming $40,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
Just Like Her - Taking the biggest class drop in racing from MSW to claiming; her dirt race two back is fast enough to upset.
Hunsley Bunsley - Another taking the big class drop from MSW class; third start off a 7-month hiatus could be her best.
Long Shot - Royal Change
Race 5 - 7 furlongs, Purse $21,000, Claiming $16,000, Fillies and mares, 4-year-olds and up
Holly's Gold - Ran a winning race for this class level last time out; lost of a horse that was dropping way down in class.
Popsicle Gal - Interesting long shot play in that she's run good races while facing tougher foes; Cohen sits and makes one run.
Long Shot - Quippi
Race 6 - 6 furlongs, Purse $25,000, Starter allowance $40,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
It's Another Story - Did a classic pop and stop last time out; she looks like lone speed today and may be awful tough to catch.
Dixie Dixie Dixie - Dead late closer will do her best running late under bugboy Talamo; she may not see the pace she requires.
Long Shot - Carly Effect
Race 7 - 7 1/2 furlongs, Purse $55,000, Optional claiming $80,000, 4-year-olds and up
He's The Rage - Tiny edge in the day's most difficult race; any one of these six horses can win, Mitchell moved him up a lot.
Declan's Moon - Ellis had to be enthused over the guy's effort last time out; tactical speed and post to stalk a perfect trip.
Long Shot - Soul City Slew
Race 8 - 6 1/2 furlongs, Purse $20,000, Maiden claiming $40,000, 3-year-olds and up
Blake's Passion - Ran like a short horse in last as the 4/5 odds chalk; Frankel charge will be tighter under Talamo in here.
Arroyo Trabuco - Returned from a 9-month layoff in a very soft spot and ran big; if he repeats the race, he's the one to beat.
Long Shot - One Sock Wonder
Best Bet - It's Another Story (race 6)
Hollywood Wednesday - Picks/Winners/Mutuels, 15/4/$19.60; Long Shots, 7/1/$6.80; Best Bet, 0/0/$0
Hollywood Totals - 281/68/$446.20; Long Shots, 140/15/$182.20; Best Bets, 16/6/$27.20
