HORSE RACING
TODAY AT HOLLYWOOD PARK
By Richard Eng
Post Time 1:20 p.m.
Race 1 - 1 1/16th miles, Purse $55,000, Allowance, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
Tremendous One - She has always been meant to be a good one; shift to SoCal and Cushion track may be just what she needed.
Fun Logic - She's not big on winning, but is consistently in the hunt late; suspect Baze will sit chilly and make one run.
Long Shot - Fleetheart
Race 2 - 1 1/16th miles, Purse $17,000, Claiming $12,500, Fillies and mares, 4-year-olds and up
Golden Via - Claimed by Pupye who interesting enough is 30 percent wins first off the claim; does not need the lead to win.
In My Life - Set a fast pace in an elongated sprint and predictably tired late; stretches out, but the pace will be slower.
Long Shot - Shaperelli
Race 3 - 5 1/2 furlongs, Purse $46,000, Maiden special weights, Cal-breds, 2-year-olds
Mix - Gerson babies under Miller have been lethal this meet; adding blinkers on, expect a sharper beginning under Baze.
Warrens A P Strike - Found his best stride too late in last; key rider switch to Nakatani signals intent more than anything.
Long Shot - Youarefun
Race 4 - 6 1/2 furlongs, Purse $31,000, Claiming $32,000, Fillies and mares, 4-year-olds and up
Karlee's Kitten - Mullins barn has defrosted and none too soon; like the turn back in distance, her race two back can upset.
Carrie's a Jewel - Tepid chalk in a harder than looks race; Knapp seldom wins on a rise off the claim, a much tougher spot.
Long Shot - Steppin Out Rose
Race 5 - 6 furlongs, Purse $24,000, Maiden claiming $50,000, 3-year-olds and up
Grits - Clever claim by Cerin, he may end up being worth much more than $60k; adding blinkers on, figures to be very sharp.
Secret Shuttle - FTS by strong baby sire Cape Canaveral; he offers a lot of value with top connections, Solis and Gallagher.
Long Shot - Tradition
Race 6 - 1 1/16th miles, Purse $36,000, Claiming $40,000, 4-year-olds and up
Megabyte - Transferred south to Mitchell from NoCal trainer Diaz; he put four works into him and hires top bugboy Talamo.
Beltline Jack - Logical chalk was sharp in last, now claimed by Sherman; if he can hold his form, he'll be double tough.
Long Shot - Lazio
Race 7 - 6 furlongs (turf, rail at 20 feet), Purse $49,000, Optional claiming $80,000, 3-year-olds
Asteri - Don't like to pick a MSW graduate facing winners for the first time; has speed and the turf rail is out 20 feet.
Unusual Suspect - I suspect he may go off favored instead; will need some pace in front to do his best as a closing sprinter.
Long Shot - Varsity Blues
Race 8 - 6 furlongs, Purse $20,000, Maiden claiming $40,000, 2-year-olds
Frote Mi Panza - The race could set up for him with plenty of speed and his come from behind style; Nakatani stays loyal.
High Tok - Did everything but win last time in a solid debut effort; O'Neill taking the blinkers off, may try to be rated.
Long Shot - Swiss E
Best Bet - Megabyte (race 6)
Hollywood Sunday - Picks/Winners/Mutuels, 18/3/$23.60; Long Shots, 8/3/$43.60; Best Bet, 1/0/$0
Hollywood Totals - 785/185/$1,223.40; Long Shots, 381/53/$564.60; Best Bets, 46/20/$89.00
