TODAY AT HOLLYWOOD PARK
By Richard Eng
Post Time 1:20 p.m.
Race 1 - 1 mile (turf, rail at 20 feet), Purse $48,000, Maiden special weights, Cal-breds, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
Arranged Marriage - Looked like a brand new horse moving from dirt to turf; she'll save all the ground and grind it out late.
Mood Winner - Has improved a lot on Cushion track, maybe she'll enjoy turf; stretching out around 2-turns for the first time.
Long Shot - Robadorable
Race 2 - 7 1/2 furlongs, Purse $23,000, Claiming $20,000, 3-year-olds
Gary John - Claimed by the ice cold West barn he is spotted where he's supposed to win; tactical speed to sit a perfect trip.
Guitar Man - Continues to slide down the claiming ladder, bugboy Talamo gets on for the money shot; should be flying late.
Long Shot - Dixie Music Roll
Race 3 - 5 1/2 furlongs, Purse $20,000, Maiden claiming $40,000, Fillies, 2-year-olds
Unlimited Gold - Did a classic pop and stop last time as a beaten favorite; her race two back can cause trouble for these.
Happytodancwithyou - Chalk found her best stride too late in debut; in a slow group, she may be the only one running late.
Long Shot - Cape Diver
Race 4 - 7 furlongs, Purse $14,000, Claiming $10,000, Fillies and mares, 4-year-olds and up
Quippi - Tiny edge in a very difficult leg to the pick 6; has good energy and could be running over the top of these late.
Neon Princess - Gallagher cull is dropping in class, leap of faith that Espinoza knows what he's doing; will be forwardly placed.
Long Shot - Getnhotnhere
Race 5 - 6 1/2 furlongs, Purse $24,000, Maiden claiming $50,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
Steelin' - Disappointed as a 3/5 favorite last time; is dropped in class and shortened up in distance, a much better spot.
Friendly Type - Another beaten chalk, but a very logical contender; Nakatani will sit a trip and try to punch it out late.
Long Shot - Placid Lake
Race 6 - 6 1/2 furlongs, Purse $37,000, Claiming $50,000, 3-year-olds
Brenin Gwalia - Hendricks is trying to avoid the duck this meet by dropping this guy in class; should not have many excuses.
Ticket Broker - Speedball from the Sherman barn figures to be hot to handle; his debut win came over this Cushion track.
Long Shot - Pawnee
Race 7 - 1 1/16th miles, Purse $51,000, Allowance, Cal-breds, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
Tiz a Blend - Logical chalk has run three good races this year; with any luck, she could just as easily have been undefeated.
Lighten Up Rule - Talamo had a lot of choices and ends up here; she is stretching out around 2-turns for the first time.
Long Shot - D Pirates Marker
Race 8 - 6 furlongs, Purse $15,000, Maiden claiming $25,000, 3-year-olds and up
Marin County - Value play in a wide open finale to the pick 4 and pick 6; beaten chalk may be ready to move forward at a price.
Mandate to Fly - Ran evenly in debut and can be taken to improve in his second start; look for Baze to put him into the race.
Long Shot - Lutyens
Best Bet - Gary John (race 2)
Hollywood Wednesday - Picks/Winners/Mutuels, 14/4/$25.20; Long Shots, 6/1/$5.00; Best Bet, 1/0/$0
Hollywood Totals - 799/189/$1,248.60; Long Shots, 387/54/$569.60; Best Bets, 47/20/$89.00
