TODAY AT HOLLYWOOD PARK
By Richard Eng
Post Time 1:20 p.m.
Race 1 - 1 1/16th miles, Purse $51,000, Allowance, 3-year-olds and up
Margenot - Has the best pedigree among these for 2-turn racing; draws well to save ground and grind it out late.
Augment - Logical chalk is strictly the one to beat; outside of his debut race, has really not run a bad effort.
Long Shot - Stella Mark
Race 2 - 6 1/2 furlongs, Purse $26,000, Maiden claiming $62,500, 3-year-olds and up
Grits - Ran well in debut, overcoming a slow start and tight going to run on late; slight improvement gets him there.
Kailee Rush - Chalk has burned bettor's money in 3-of-4 recent starts; subtle class drop can put him over the hump.
Long Shot - Hasty Texan
Race 3 - 5 1/2 furlongs, $75,000, Williard Proctor Memorial, 2-year-olds
Thoroughly - Sharp debut despite running for a $40k claiming price; he moves up sharply and gets Nakatani, much value.
Bold Trust - Still eligible for MSW, lost his debut to a Dale Romans well-meant good thing; certainly not outclassed here.
Long Shot - Swiss Ace
Race 4 - 6 furlongs (turf, rail at 15 feet), Purse $49,000, Allowance, 3-year-olds
Organ Pipe - Mullins barn continues to struggle, but many runners seem well placed; closer in a race jammed with speed.
Steady Demand - Favorite is running first time as a gelding, the ultimate equipment change; expect sharp improvement.
Long Shot - Roosevelt
Race 5 - 6 1/2 furlongs, Purse $23,000, Claiming $25,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
Kin to a Kitty - Koriner dropping her way down in class, a red flag for most trainers; if right, she should win this easy.
Mimosa Mist - Dead late closer can sit cozy on the rail and wait for her chance in the lane; key is who goes with the chalk.
Long Shot - Madre May
Race 6 - 7 furlongs, Purse $46,000, Maiden special weights, Cal-breds, 3-year-olds and up
Abandoneer - Ran strongly in debut at 65/1 odds; won't get near that today, slight improvement can get him there today.
Mystery Hunter - Typical Headley baby debuted with an awkward start and an educational trip; been working bullets since.
Long Shot - Light of the World
Race 7 - 1 1/16th miles, Purse $55,000, Allowance, 4-year-olds and up
Timias - Has lost incredible head bobs in 2-of-3 recent starts; tough luck horse has talent, overdue to win one by daylight.
Out of Control - Frankel favorite draws a tough post for this 2-turn turf route; Talamo must find a place to tuck in.
Long Shot - Gem Proof
Race 8 - 5 1/2 furlongs, $75,000 Cinderella, Fillies, 2-year-olds
Wonderful Luck - Faced males at Churchill last time in a much tougher stakes than this; her best race could crush these.
Another Aleyna - Nice debut win, now steps up into stakes foes; that happens a lot with 2-YO, there are few allowance races.
Long Shot - Excessive Heat
Race 9 - 6 1/2 furlongs, Purse $15,000, Maiden claiming $25,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
Angelina's Ace - The less starts the better at this bottom maiden claiming rung; Sise babies typically improve with racing.
Bartok's Bling - Little confidence in an 0-for-11 maiden, but most here have proved they can't run; be along for a piece.
Long Shot - Blue Kityy
Best Bet - Wonderful Luck (race 8)
