HORSE RACING
October 13, 2010 - 11:00 pm
TODAY AT OAK TREE AT HOLLYWOOD PARK
By Richard Eng
Post Time 1 p.m.
Race 1 - 6 furlongs, Purse $20,000, Maiden claiming $50,000, Fillies, 2-year-olds
4 Wild and Gotaway - Taking the biggest class drop in racing from MSW to maiden claiming; was bet in debut.
1 Sean S - Good run in last when led into deep stretch at Fairplex; saves all the ground tonight.
Long Shot - 7 Lucky Trippi
Race 2 - 6 1/2 furlongs, Purse $17,000, Claiming $16,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
7 Brookie Girl - Sharp winner in last, now claimed by Mark Glatt; if she repeats that race she can win again.
2 Cool Haleigh - Returns from a 3-month hiatus in a career-low class; need not be much to compete with these.
Long Shot - 3 Ms Margaritaville
Race 3 - 7 furlongs, Purse $26,000, Starter allowance $40,000, 2-year-olds
4 Mr. Gennaro - Exits a much tougher stakes for this first-level condition; don't let the trainer's winless record fool you.
1 Tiger Bay - Among three who graduated with a win last time out; saves all the ground and figures to grind it out late.
Long Shot - 3 Success Again
Race 4 - 1 mile (turf, rail at 15 feet), Purse $38,000, Maiden special weights, Fillies, 2-year-olds
8 So She Dances - Solid debut when beaten a neck in a mile grass route; she could improve off that good maiden voyage.
10 Anniversary Girl - Stretching out around 2 turns for the first time; expect improvement for the maestro Jerry Hollendorfer.
Long Shot - 1 Family Plan
Race 5 - 1 1/16th miles, Purse $40,000, Allowance, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
5 Arte Viva - Has been butting heads with many next-out winners; tactical speed for hot riding Brice Blanc.
3 Hard Way Ten - Will be way overbet off a second to Switch in last; Switch gave Zenyatta all she could handle in the Lady's Secret.
Long Shot - 7 Money Lover
Race 6 - 6 1/2 furlongs, Purse $26,000, Starter allowance $40,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-old and up
7 Genuine Magic - Third start off an 11-month hiatus could be her best; will close fast under Rafael Bejarano.
5 Word Association - Tepid chalk in another wide-open affair; reunited with Joel Rosario, reason enough for me.
Long Shot - 8 Ascot's Highflyer
Race 7 - 6 furlongs (turf, rail at 15 feet), Purse $44,000, Optional claiming $62,500, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
3 Sister Dawn - Had no chance in the Victory Ride at Saratoga over a big speed bias; returns to friendly turf sprint.
8 Paleo - Would like her more except for parking lot post; in Hollywood turf sprints, the outer posts are disadvantaged.
Long Shot - 1 Softly Singing
Race 8 - 6 furlongs, Purse $15,000, Maiden claiming $32,000, 2-year-olds
9 Pursuxit - Outran his high odds in debut at Fairplex; tough trip, big rider switch to Brice Blanc for the money shot.
5 Doughboy - Taking the biggest class drop in racing from MSW to maiden claiming; has solid tactical speed to sit close.
Long Shot - 10 Graydle's Red
Best Bet - 3 Sister Dawn (race 7)
Oak Tree Monday - Picks/Winners/Mutuels, 18/6/$39.80; Long Shots, 9/1/$15.60; Best Bet, 1/0/$0
Oak Tree Totals - 153/47/$288.00; Long Shots, 75/10/$83.60; Best Bets, 9/2/$6.80
SIMULCAST PICK OF THE DAY - 6 Senor Dehere (4/1) in race 6 at Keeneland. For scoring purposes, we'll make a hypothetical $2 win, place and show bet, $6 total. On Monday, Song of Stars ran second at Delaware Park $2.40 place and no show wagering. Stats - 170/122/$936.70
