HORSE RACING
TODAY AT HOLLYWOOD PARK
By Richard Eng
Post Time 1 p.m.
Race 1 - 5 1/2 furlongs, Purse $13,000, Claiming $8,000, 3-year-olds and up
Sidepocket Lou - Not easy to demand value in a bad field of slow horses; 10-pound bugboy has a rare live mount.
Talk Circuit - Speedball should be able to clear early; dangerous target in a no passing zone field.
Long Shot - Captain Kali
Race 2 - 6 furlongs, Purse $15,600, Maiden claiming $25,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
Our Bellini Bikini - Outran her 12/1 odds in last; second start off a 2-month hiatus, like that Joel Rosario takes over.
Felony - Tyler Baze had choices and rides this FTS for Peter Miller; watch the tote board for additional clues.
Long Shot - Sweet Patricia
Race 3 - 1 1/16th miles (turf), Purse $29,000, Claiming $25,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
Coracao Beijo - Square price on a filly that won at 1/2 odds in last; she has run better races and could upset today.
Soldier Betty - The main thing for her favoritism is jockey Rafael Bejarano; has average speed and average class.
Long Shot - Victory Dancer
Race 4 - 1 1/16th miles, Purse $20,000, Claiming $12,500, 3-year-olds and up
Fiery Trippi - Claimed off a sharp wire-to-wire win by trainer Bill Morey; has won a sensational 5-of-9 so far this meet.
Marquet Rebel - Has run some good races since Peter Eurton took over training; certainly is not outclassed with these.
Long Shot - Journeyman
Race 5 - 1 1/16th miles (turf), Purse $46,000, Optional claiming $62,500, 3-year-olds and up
Ridge Dance - Part of a strong uncoupled entry from trainer Neil Drysdale; been pulling rabbits out of a hat lately.
Swift Winds - Was flattered in last when Riviera Cocktail won next out; this is a solid group so a repeat may not be good enough.
Long Shot - Earnednevergiven
Race 6 - 6 furlongs, Purse $15,600, Maiden claiming $25,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
Lovely Sophia - You'll have a big edge over me as you can see the tote board; many FTS and many slowpokes too.
Waterside Rose - Her two starts are best among those with experience; still, she's not circle play in an unstable group.
Long Shot - Sportina
Race 7 - 6 furlongs (turf), Purse $32,000, Claiming $32,000, 3-year-olds and up
Shadow of Illinois - He is long in the tooth at age 10; still runs capable races albeit for lower price tags.
Hey Elvis - Key for me is trainer Mike Mitchell; been away 3 months, dropped from $50K to $28K gives him an edge.
Long Shot - Maui Mark
Race 8 - 1 1/8th miles, $250,000 Vanity Handicap, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
Zenyatta - She is the champion and a dazzling 16-for-16 lifetime, say no more; the only surface she has not won over yet is turf.
St. Trinians - Was overmatched in the Santa Anita Handicap; still highly regarded, she returns against her own kind.
Long Shot - Zardana
Race 9 - 6 1/2 furlongs, Purse $13,000, Claiming $8,000, 3-year-olds and up
One Vote - A. C. Avila barn continues to percolate, even at Churchill Downs; should be ridden with more patience.
Beyond Loaded - Ran OK in last off a 2-year hiatus; big rider switch to Brice Blanc and should be much fitter tonight.
Long Shot - Rochelle's Jimmy
Race 10 - 1 1/16th miles (turf), Purse $42,000, Maiden special weights, Cal-breds, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
Caitie's Secret - Good second in last off a 2-month hiatus; beaten favorite must overcome a parking lot post.
Bitt a Heat - Favorite basically due to a ground saving trip; this could be the toughest race on the pick 6.
Long Shot - Donner Wasser
Best Bet - Zenyatta (race 8)
Hollywood Park Saturday - Picks/Winners/Mutuels, 19/5/$23.80; Long Shots, 9/0/$0; Best Bet, 1/1/$2.40
Hollywood Park Totals - 592/167/$1,047.00; Long Shots, 290/32/$366.20; Best Bets, 35/19/$76.00
SIMULCAST PICK OF THE DAY - #6 Don'twait Toolong (3/1) in race 7 at Monmouth Park. For scoring purposes, we'll make a hypothetical $2 win, place and show bet, $6 total. On Saturday, Prince Will I Am ran out at Churchill Downs. Stats - 109/79/$569.70
